The Oncio app

We know that information alone is not enough for people affected by cancer, which is why the Oncio app has been designed as a practical and interactive resource. Whether you are looking for recipes, tips on managing menopausal symptoms, advice on dealing with stress and anxiety, or information on different therapies in the integrative oncology field, the Oncio app has you covered. The content in the Explore and Program screens is curated by leading experts and is designed to provide you with the latest research, insights, and resources for managing the challenges of cancer treatment and recovery. With easy-to-use search functionality, you can quickly find the content that is most relevant to your needs.

The Home section of Oncio provides you with a comprehensive hub to track and manage your health and wellbeing data. By connecting with wearable devices and native health apps, you can easily track your heart rate variability (HRV), sleep, and activity data, and monitor your progress towards better symptom control and improved quality of life. Your use of self-evaluation scores helps us assess how effective the app is in supporting people affected by cancer and supports further development.

We will regularly update the app with new programs, recipes, free charity events and workshops, articles and video and audio resources. The bulletin function in the app will alert users to new programs and other new content, as this is added to the app. Watch out for the bell icon and the little red dot indicating a new content or update alert.

You can get your questions about the app and support queries answered using the question mark icon. This provides access to app FAQs and contact details for support. It is important to note that the app requires a stable Internet connection to work properly due to the image and video content.

Please note that the app is currently designed for adult use only (18+). We would, of course, love to support children and families in the future and will be considering a specific version of the Oncio app over the next couple of years subject to funding.

The Oncio app Explore screen offers a diverse range of content, giving our app users the opportunity to access a wealth of information that can support their exploration of integrative oncology. We are building a comprehensive resource to support you in exploring, learning, and making informed decisions about your wellbeing support, wherever you are on your cancer care pathway.

General information hub

Providing articles, audio and video resources on integrative oncology and key modalities/therapies, including an introduction to integrative oncology, health coaching, EFT, aromatherapy and more.

Symptom relief hub
Evidence- and guideline-informed support for targeting specific symptoms with non-pharmacological interventions, e.g. pain relief and menopause symptoms.

Charity group sessions and events
Both in-person and online for community support.

Nutritious and delicious recipes
With many thanks to the wonderful chefs who donated these.

Home

Track your progress on your chosen program and connect health apps and wearable devices to Oncio to help keep key health and wellbeing metrics in one place to monitor progress.

The Home screen also offers an opportunity for self-evaluation of symptom scores and quality of life, which plays a crucial role in app evaluation through validated health questionnaires. This helps us in building the evidence base for digital health support in cancer care.

There is the option to share data with the public or private healthcare team (if they are using our secure professional portal) to support personalised care. You choose whether you would like to share the data following a provider invitation as an explicit opt-in.

  • “As an Oncologist in the NHS, I see a huge gap in the supportive elements for cancer patient care. People with cancer tell us that it is challenging to navigate the internet trying to find ways to integrate complementary with traditional oncological therapies. The ONCIO App is bridging that gap.”

Dr Penny Kechagioglou, Consultant Clinical Oncologist

  • "Welcome to Oncio, a new app that I feel could be a very useful resource for our patients and their partners as they undergo treatment for cancer. Kudos to Nina and team for infusing the Oncio app with their passion for scientific based integrative care. And adding a layer of attention to detail that I feel elevates this into something more than just another app."

Mr Kelvin Gomez, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon

  • "The ONCIO App comes at the right time when patient demand for an integrative approach to cancer care has exceeded the capacity of oncology professionals in the NHS. It is an app free for people with cancer to use, which contains evidence-based information about integrative oncology, courses and tools that have been compiled by experienced clinicians who treat cancer patients".

Dr Penny Kechagioglou, Consultant Clinical Oncologist

  • "The majority of our oestrogen receptor positive breast cancer patients are given oestrogen blockers after treatment surgery. And one of the side effects of these tablets, especially in postmenopausal women, is joint ache. If our patients could be empowered to try and reduce those symptoms, without solely relying on further medication, this would be another huge boost for them. So well done to the team at Oncio for crafting something so thoughtful and potentially hugely beneficial for our patients."

Mr Kelvin Gomez, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon

  • "The goal of Integrative Oncology is to support better quality of life, improve resilience, minimise the side effects of treatment and improve outcomes for cancer patients. We believe that such access to a holistic care approach should be free at the point of cancer patient diagnosis and throughout their cancer journey and beyond, during survivorship".

Dr Penny Kechagioglou, Consultant Clinical Oncologist

  • "There is evidence to show that global cancer centres that use an integrative approach to cancer care have better patient clinical outcomes and through the ONCIO App we are able to track patient reported outcome measures easily, practically and securely".

Dr Penny Kechagioglou, Consultant Clinical Oncologist

  • "A lack of appetite from treatment either directly or indirectly, is a common side effect experienced by many patients undergoing cancer treatment. Having a healthy, tasty meal waiting for them at home does two things. It continues to show patients they are loved and it may stimulate the appetite, both of which are great things".

Mr Kelvin Gomez, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon

  • "Oncio is the holistic approach to managing cancer which I have been looking for, across the 5 years that I have had treatment for cancer."
